Well, that was my first San Diego Comic Con ever. It was incredible! I don't think I can accurately explain how incredible this experience was. I am so incredibly grateful to work for such an amazing company and fantastic team.
Friday night kicked off the weekend. I was up a lot earlier, since we changed our hours for that Friday. My wonderful boyfriend was up in the morning to make me breakfast. No matter how many times I tell him he doesn't need to get up with me, he always does. After work, it was heading to my parent's house to pick up my sister.
From there, we went to Build-A-Bear and built our Shark Week 30th anniversary sharks. It was super fun to do. She had never been to a Build-A-Bear. My shark is the hammerhead named MC Hammerhead. She named her great white Penelope. We went to see Jaws at the Hollywood Bowl. It was my first time seeing Jaws. I really enjoyed it. I took cheese crisps and pork rinds as snacks. They were delicious. We had a fantastic time.
I got home just after midnight. It was up at 5:30am. I had already packed on Thursday and was ready to get out the door. I had my bulletproof coffee, but didn't have breakfast. It was just too early and too hard to get going. He dropped me off on the train and I had my bag full of snacks. I had pork rinds and some meat slims on the way down.
The train ride was really nice. I got some work done and played some games. It's a ride that I used to do every weekend in high school when my dad still lived in San Diego. Needless to say, I'm fairly used to it, even if it has been years.
Once I got down there, it was picking up my badge and checking into the hotel. I was extremely lucky and had the room to myself. I dropped everything off and headed straight over. I'm not sure words can accurately describe how amazing the experience was. I 100% teared up because to be surrounded by thousands of people who are all interested in the same things I am or at least a couple of the things I like is awesome.
Saturday night I was exhausted. Partially actually being tired and the rest from being overwhelmed. That didn't stop me from meeting co-workers, and I would like to think friends, for sushi. Sushi is one the easiest keto meals. It might not be loaded with fat in every fish, but it's delicious. Salmon is an excellent keto choice. So many restaurants have a cucumber wrapped roll with no rice. Sashimi is always yummy.
After sushi, walked back to the hotel and crashed. Then it was up the next day to it again. I treated myself this weekend. It's not something I do often. I sort of planned ahead. I'm confident that there will be no issue. Since my boyfriend is so amazing, I made sure he had some great gifts. He had one request, and that was a Lobo #1 comic. I found it! I also found some Funko pops that he wanted.
I checked out at the hotel and left my bag at concierge and then headed back into the convention. I wanted to spend as much time there as possible. When it was time to leave, I headed to meet some co-workers to head over to the train. I think next time we will get to the train a bit earlier. I've never seen a line wrap around a train station before!
I had an excellent keto breakfast at an Iris restaurant, but then I didn't eat until I got onto the train. I had eggs, sausage and heavy cream for my coffee! Lots of snacking. I expected that this weekend. So, I was thrilled when I got on the scale and only went up 0.2lbs. So that's 0.4lbs up in the last two weeks. I'm ok with that. That's not even half a pound. My boyfriend lost 4lbs and is now almost 40lbs down! So incredibly proud of him.
We were going to go do our Costco run tonight, but he's not feeling 100%, but we had enough things to make lunches for the next two days. He kept me company as I made our lunches. He makes things often enough that I'm happy to do it. We made chicken zucchini bacon mozzarella bake. Looks amazing! Can't wait to try it!
Now, it's time to try and get some rest. Although, watching Shark Week is very exciting.
Keep calm and keto on.
